Voice Embodiment

Your voice is a pathway for healing, connection, and expression.

In person in Boulder, CO or virtual.

My original Voice Embodiment methodology integrates somatic stress release techniques, vocal training, and creative play in order to actualize the full capacities of your voice to express, heal, mobilize emotions and stress, and enter true presence with yourself - and listener as the case may be.

This practice aims to release physical tensions and open a space for a renewed, deepened relationship with your voice to achieve your desired outcomes—whether it's vocal quality, stress relief, self-expression, or connection with yourself.

FAQ

What is Voice Embodiment?

Voice Embodiment combines somatic practices and vocal techniques to help individuals reconnect with their voice, enhance expression, and promote overall well-being. It emphasizes the mind-body connection and encourages personal exploration through sound.

How can singing help with stress and emotional well-being?

Singing can promote relaxation, release tension, and stimulate the vagus nerve as well as the release of endorphins, which enhance mood and well-being. Voice Embodiment practices encourage a deeper connection with your emotions, allowing for cathartic expression and healing.

Who is this suitable for?

This course is designed for anyone interested in exploring their voice, regardless of skill level. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced singer, or someone who simply wants to connect more deeply with their vocal expression, this course is for you.

What can I expect from the 5-day course?

Over the course of five days, you’ll receive practical exercises, insights, and techniques that focus on releasing tension, enhancing vocal resonance, and connecting with your voice. Each email will include actionable practices to incorporate into your daily life.

How can 1:1 sessions benefit me?

In 1:1 sessions, you receive personalized guidance tailored to your unique voice and needs. These sessions provide a safe space for deeper exploration, allowing you to address specific challenges, receive immediate feedback, and create a customized plan to enhance your vocal journey.

What should I do if I feel nervous about singing?

Oh, that's my favorite. Trust me, I know how it feels. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about singing! In the course and 1:1 sessions, we emphasize creating a supportive environment where you can explore your voice without judgment. There are also moments where I'll step out of the room to let you explore without anyone listening, if that's what supports you. Through various exercises, you’ll gradually build confidence and comfort in expressing yourself vocally.

How do I prepare for a 1:1 session?

Come with an open mind and a willingness to explore! It can be helpful to think about specific goals or challenges you’d like to address in the session. There’s no need for extensive preparation—just be ready to engage and discover together.

What if I can’t sing well?

Voice Embodiment is not about perfection. It’s about evoking the powers of your voice, exploration and connection. That said, applying technique can go a long way. You may be surprised! Regardless, everyone has a unique voice, and the focus is on finding joy and authenticity in your expression. We’ll work together to help you embrace and celebrate your voice, regardless of perceived skill level.

About Sara

It’s a pleasure to connect with you! I am a singer with a certificate in Somatic Stress Release from The Embody Lab and E-RYT 300. I specialize in integrating vocal training with somatic techniques to help you transform your relationship with your voice. My approach is designed to refine your technique while allowing you to access your voice as a pathway for play, joy, and healing. There will be a lot of laughter in our sessions.

Throughout my life, I have experienced a profound presence when I sing. It feels like love pouring through me. However, the feeling of love, light, and ease that I experienced when singing in creative contexts contrasted starkly with my experience in formal training settings, in which singing felt uninspiring and exhausting. What was the difference?

The contrast in these experiences piqued my curiosity about how singing can transform our nervous system and emotional states, and what might block it from doing so. Now I integrate somatic techniques and vocal coaching to support others in opening up these powerful pathways, to experience singing in its absolute essence and at the same time, promote well-being and nervous system balance.
